PortGround GmbH is a 100 % subsidiary of the Mitteldeutsche Airport Holding. It performs ground handling and cargo operations and provides other services at Dresden and Leipzig/Halle Airports.
This new affiliate of Dresden and Leipzig/Halle Airports was founded in 2001. It provides a wide range of ground handling services, offering a high level of efficiency and excellent quality. PortGround has thus become an indispensable partner in the group. Its services ensure the continuous operation of the two commercial airports in Saxony.
With about 350 highly qualified and motivated employees, an extensive vehicle pool and modern ground handling equipment, PortGround guarantees operating reliability 365 days per year, 24 hours per day. It closely co-operates with the companies based at the two locations. Using up-to-date technologies, PortGround is able to handle all types of aircraft in compliance with international standards.
Its excellent performance is based on many job-specific internal qualification measures. More than 70 % of PortGround staff hold an IHK (Chamber of Commerce) qualification as Certified Aircraft Handlers.
The services offered by PortGround range from loading and unloading aircraft, including any surface transport operations, to aircraft services such as towing, starting assistance, flight deck cleaning, water supply and waste water disposal. All such services are performed in compliance with IATA AHM 810 Annex A.
In addition to attractive handling service packages tailor-made to suit the specific wishes of individual airlines, PortGround also provides infrastructure services commissioned by the two airports in accordance with the German Ground Handling Directive (BADV). This includes, for example, baggage sorting and operation of the boarding bridges. The spectrum of services also includes physical and document handling for cargo by specialised departments and professional de-icing of aircraft in winter.
