Certification confirms that PortGround meets the highest international standards in terms of air cargo security

PortGround GmbH was awarded an Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) certificate by Germany's customs authorities at the end of 2011. The AEO certificate allows its holders to benefit from certain customs simplifications as well as security facilitations.

Ever cleaner, ever faster: PortGround introduces second electric conveyor

Just in time for the start of the peak travel season at the airport, the Dresden branch of PortGround GmbH has introduced a second electric conveyor belt. This device, which is used to load baggage onto aircraft, replaces an older diesel-powered conveyor belt. With this new electrically-driven Mulag conveyor belt, its second so far, PortGround is reducing its exhaust emissions and therefore doing even more to protect the environment. The company's vehicle fleet at Dresden already includes 19 electric towing trucks.

21 de-icing specialists from ten German airports successfully
completed their two-day specialist conference at Leipzig/Halle
Airport at midday today. At the invitation of PortGround, which
is responsible for aircraft de-icing at Leipzig/Halle and Dresden
Airports, they discussed current developments and issues that
are relevant to this sector.

Successful Pilot Project at PortGround: First Participant Completes Unique Practical Course in Germany for People Changing Careers

This morning Marcel Bock was the first person to be handed the
new Chamber of Commerce and Industry certificate entitled
“Specialist in Aircraft Handling” after completing the new
practical training model at PortGround. As a result, the company
was able to complete the pilot course. It will start regular
training according to this concept, which has now been tried and
tested in practice, at the beginning of October this year.

PortGround has opted for more environmentally-friendly alternatives to conventional vehicles and equipment as part of its ongoing fleet renewal at Leipzig/Halle and Dresden airports. In doing so, the company is making an active contribution to the reduction of diesel emissions in the ground handling process.

Bettina Ganghofer Has Taken Over as Managing Director of PortGround

The proverbial baton – or at least the marshalling bat - was handed on at management level at PortGround GmbH today. Bettina Ganghofer took over as managing director of the Mitteldeutsche Airport Holding subsidiary company from Dierk Näther this morning.

Bettina Ganghofer is the new Managing Director of PortGround

There is to be a change at the top of PortGround GmbH. Bettina Ganghofer is taking over the management of the subsidiary of the Mitteldeutsche Airport Holding on 1 April 2009.
The 45 year old will succeed Dierk Naether. Since his appointment as Managing Director of Leipzig/Halle Airport GmbH on 1 December 2008, he has been directing both companies concurrently.
